Friends of the Earth: From plastic to a Community Bench

Writer's picture: Brittany FeltnerBrittany Feltner

Henry County Recycles (formally Henry County Solid Waste District) is collecting soft plastics that are generally hard to recycle items to be turned into a bench for the community. The most popular soft plastics include: grocery store bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, ice bags, plastic shipping envelopes, ziploc bags, cereal bags, bottle case overwrap, salt softener bags, pallet wrap and stretch film. Common items that CANNOT be included are: frozen food bags, candy bar wrappers, chip bags, net/mesh produce bags, pet food bags. If your item is not on the list here is a trick to see if it is acceptable or not: see if the package will stretch. If it tears like paper in your hand please do not bring it in. If you have questions please bring items to the District Office at 1121 Broad Street.
